House cleaning and home watch in Oldsmar
Oldsmar, Pinellas County. ZIP 34677.
In Oldsmar the address on the mailbox, the city that governs the street and the county that taxes it are not always the same three answers, and that is worth understanding before you hand anybody a key here. Ransom E. Olds bought roughly 37,500 acres at the top of Old Tampa Bay in 1916 to lay out a planned town, and the parcel straddled the Pinellas and Hillsborough county line, about two thirds of it on the Pinellas side. The town was renamed Tampa Shores in 1927 and changed back to Oldsmar in 1937. What survives from all of that is a ZIP code, 34677, that carries both the city itself and a large block of unincorporated county around it.
The line that matters day to day runs around East Lake Woodlands. It has an Oldsmar mailing address and an Oldsmar entrance, and its residents voted against being annexed into the city, so it sits in unincorporated Pinellas County and pays nothing to the City of Oldsmar. Which side of that line a house is on decides which local rules a contractor working there answers to, and nothing in the address tells you. We check it per address rather than per town, and we tell you what we found rather than leaving it as an assumption.

What is actually different about Oldsmar
- East Lake Woodlands carries an Oldsmar address but is not in the City of Oldsmar. The city says so itself: residents voted against annexation, so the community is unincorporated Pinellas County and pays no city tax. It is an easy thing to get wrong, and it is worth knowing before you compare what two companies can actually show you.
- More than forty separate associations sit behind the one East Lake Woodlands entrance, and they are not one kind of housing. The member list runs from condominium buildings through attached villas to detached houses on their own lots. What a clean costs there depends on which of those it is, which is why we ask for bedroom and bathroom counts and not for a community name.
- The City of Oldsmar requires a business tax receipt from anyone selling goods or services inside the city limits, under Chapter 62 of its Code of Ordinances and Chapter 205 of the Florida Statutes, and running the business from home does not exempt it. We do not hold one today. A job inside East Lake Woodlands is outside those limits, which is the other half of why the boundary is worth understanding.
- Pinellas County publishes a hurricane evacuation zone for every address, A through E, and it revises them. Oldsmar was named among the areas where a recent revision moved addresses into a higher-risk zone than they had been in before. For a house that will be empty in August, that is worth looking up rather than assuming the zone it was in last year still holds.
- The golf club inside East Lake Woodlands opened in 1979 as East Lake Woodlands Country Club and reopened as Ardea Country Club in 2023 after a rebuild. Two courses behind one entrance, and a community roughly a decade older than most of the gated golf housing in the East Lake corridor to the north of it.
The housing stock
Detached houses outnumber attached villas roughly three to one across 34677, with condominium buildings and a land-owned 55+ community of manufactured and site-built homes in the mix as well. Most of it is one or two stories at ordinary ceiling heights, so a deep clean here is easier to quote accurately than one in the high-ceilinged stock north of here.
Getting in
The gate is rarely the problem in Oldsmar. The association is. East Lake Woodlands is one entrance and more than forty separate boards behind it, and the vendor rule is set by the board that governs your building or your street rather than by the community as a whole. Send us the association name and not only the community name, and the registration is done before the first visit.
Around Oldsmar
These are sections of this page on purpose, not pages of their own. A separate page per neighborhood would be four words of difference each and nothing anyone needs.
- East Lake Woodlands
- An Oldsmar address, an Oldsmar entrance, and not the City of Oldsmar: residents voted against annexation, so it is unincorporated Pinellas County. More than forty member associations sit inside it, spanning condominiums, attached villas and detached houses, which is why a quote here starts with bedrooms and bathrooms instead of a community name.
- Gull-Aire Village
- A land-owned 55+ community of manufactured and site-built homes on the west side of 34677, laid out around 1980. Smaller footprints, single story throughout, and a rate that lands at the bottom of the published table rather than the top.
- The original town grid
- The 1916 layout between Tampa Road and the bayfront, around the waterfront park on Shore Drive named for the founder. Older and smaller than the golf-community housing and much closer to the water, which is where salt on window tracks, hinges and outdoor metal stops being theoretical.
The year in Oldsmar
The buying window here is not April to October. The median resident age in 34677 sits in the forties, and a household that lives here all year books cleaning on a weekly or every-other-week rhythm and books home watch only around a trip. Storm season is the exception. Two weeks away in August is still two weeks in which nobody has looked at the roof, and that is a short enough absence that most people never think to arrange anything at all.
| When | What is happening | Which service |
|---|---|---|
| April and May | Closing up, before you fly north | Home watch |
| June to November | Hurricane season, and a check after a storm | Home watch |
| September and October | Opening up, and a clean before you land | Cleaning |
| October to April | Recurring cleaning while you are in the house | Cleaning |
| All year | Turnover between guests | Rental turnover |
Where you will and will not find us in Oldsmar
Oldsmar is an incorporated city a short drive east of our base, and the honest expectation is ordinary search results rather than the map pack. Those results track a verified address, ours is in Palm Harbor, and no amount of work on this page changes that. What this page can do is answer the Oldsmar questions properly, say which side of the city line an address sits on, and show you the rate before you have to ask anybody for it.

Questions we get asked in Oldsmar
- Is East Lake Woodlands in Oldsmar or not?
- Both answers are right, depending on what you mean by in. The mailing address is Oldsmar and the entrance is off East Lake Woodlands Parkway, but residents voted against annexation, so the community is unincorporated Pinellas County and outside the city limits. The city states that on its own FAQ page. It makes no difference to what we charge and a real difference to which local rules apply.
- There are dozens of associations in my community. Which one do you need the name of?
- The one that governs your building or your street, not the umbrella above it. East Lake Woodlands alone has more than forty member associations and the vendor rule is set at that level. Give us that name when you book and the registration is finished before anyone arrives holding your key.
- Do you hold a City of Oldsmar business tax receipt?
- Not today, and we would rather write it here than have you find it out. Oldsmar requires one from anyone selling goods or services inside the city limits, including a business run from home, under Chapter 62 of its code and Chapter 205 of the Florida Statutes. Florida asks for nothing of the kind at state level for residential cleaning, so a receipt is a tax registration and never a mark of competence.
- Our street is close to the county line. Does that change anything?
- Not the drive and not the price. 34677 is inside our declared area end to end. What it changes is paperwork, because the county boundary runs through this corner of the map and the original 1916 parcel sat on both sides of it. If your address turns out to be on the far side of that line, tell us, because it falls outside the ZIP codes we publish and we will say so rather than quietly stretching them.
